Obituary of Serge Antoine Chicoye

Serge Antoine Chicoye, beloved husband and father, died on August 18, 2020, in Bronx, NY. Today, he leaves behind his wife Allison Douglas-Chicoye, son Myles Antoine Chicoye, Brothers: Claude Chicoye, Jean Chicoye, and Raymond Chicoye; Sisters: Yanick Jean-Louis, Mireille C. Mirambeau, and Ketleen Chicoye; Nephews and Nieces: Marc Chicoye, Philippe Chicoye, Sarah Chicoye, David Jean-Louis, Regine Jean-Louis, Nathan Jean-Louis, Gilbert Mirambeau, Tania Mirambeau, Karine Mirambeau, Emmanuel Chicoye, Rebecca Chicoye, Ryan Chicoye, Randy Chicoye, Gaethan Chicoye, and Norman Chicoye. In-laws: Douglas, Skerritte and Eugene. Serge was born on June 2, 1953, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to Raymonde Lherisson and Gregoire Julien Chicoye. He attended high school at College George Marc, where he made many lasting memories and left a lasting impression on many people. After attending High School, Serge migrated to the United of America in 1977. He graduated from New Rochelle College in 1994 with a BA in Bilingual Education. He later earned a Master's Degree in Health Education from Columbia University in 2006. Serge always knew he wanted to be an educator. When he was younger, he would create a classroom setting in a space in the house in Haiti and told his siblings story about the history of ancient Greece, Rome, and many other civilizations. He became a teacher for the New York City Public School, where he taught Spanish for many years retired in 2008. He later taught Health Education at Westchester Community College from 2010-2016. Throughout his career, Serge had positively impacted many with his generosity, professionalism, and kindness. His family and friends will remember him as funny, loving, caring, determined, loyal, and a devoted Christian. Serge had spent his entire life planning his retirement. His dream was to return to his homeland Haiti. He wanted to build a home in Jacmel to be closer to his family, which provided him security. Whenever he travels to Haiti, he helped the frail and sick of Haiti by providing health advice and natural medications. His passion was research on natural remedies such as herbs, massages, and exercise. He was a healer. His immediate family by the last name included: Ambroise, Andre, Bistoury, Chicoye, Delince, Denis, Desir, Douglas, Forest, Hertelou, Jean-Louis, LeRoy, Lherisson, Martin, Mirambeau, Oriol, Pelissier, and other family members impacted by Serge's death. Our family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heartfelt forms, from all who were blessed to know Serge.
